Beijing is vibrant wit
h amazing attractions, Forbidden City, the most magnificent palace in China; Ming Tombs, an imperial tomb cluster for thirteen emperors of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644); Great Wall, one of the seven wonders of the world; Temple of Heaven, the worshipping site for the emperors; Summer Palace, the grandest imperial garden in China; Sacred Way, a divine road reflecting the pomp and dignity of emperors; Tiananmen Square, The largest square in the world; Lama Temple, a noted temple dedicated to Tibetan Buddhism; Beihai Park, a centuries-old park with marvelous scenery; Hutong, a carrier and mirror of Beijing folk culture.

The Great Wall

The Great Wall of China is one of the 'Eight Wonders of the World' and is enlisted in the World Heritage Directory. This immense wall was built to keep out invaders as well as to retain the inhabitants. It spans five provinces from Shanhaiguan Pass in the east to Jiayuguan Pass in the west, looking like a gigantic dragon across deserts, grasslands and mountains.

Summer Palace

The Summer Palace, located in northwest of Beijing, is the largest and most well-preserved royal park in China. It radiates fully the natural beauty and the grandeur of royal gardens, which has long been recognized as 'The Museum of Royal Gardens'. Composed mainly of the Longevity Hill (Wanshou Shan) and Kunming Lake, it occupies an area of 300.59 hectares (742.8 acres).

Beijing Hutong

People say that the real culture of Beijing is the culture of the Hutong and Courtyards. A hutong is an ancient city alley, typical of Beijing. Surrounding the Forbidden City, many of the hutongs were built during the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. Today the centuries-old lanes have developed into a hot tourist attraction. It is the first choice for people who would like to learn about the local history and culture.

Beijing 798 Art Zone

Named after the 798 military factory built in 1950s, Beijing 798 Art Zone is located in the northeast corner of the city. The unique architectural style, featuring simple design and varied composition, follows the Bauhaus way. Now it has attracted a great deal of attention from the media at home and abroad as an exhibition center of modern art. Galleries, design studios, art exhibition spaces, artists' studios, fashionable shops, restaurants, bars etc. now assemble here.

Last but not least, there are also attractions which cater for tourists looking for something different. These scenic spots demonstrate the all-embracing and gentle character of this city.
